Lot Essay

This work depicts the annual New York Yacht Club cruise. In the foreground is the forty foot waterline centerboard sloop Chiquita with the large schooner Ariel approaching its anchorage. Goat Island can be seen, along with other New York Yacht Club boats and John Pierpont Morgan's infamous yacht Corsair II.
