The original, on canvas, 116 x 151 cm, is in the National Gallery, London, since 1844. The painting in the Uffizi, after which the present lot is copied, is now considered to be a contemporary version (see D.S. Pepper, Guido Reni, 1984, pp. 240/41, nos. 72 and 72-1)
