Lot Essay

Rowe studied first as a lithographer and then at the Royal Institute. Initially he worked as a landscape painter but during the 1890s he became increasingly interested in gardens. Between 1890 and 1914 he travelled all over England, Scotland and Ireland painting the most important gardens.
