The original, on panel, 304 x 206 cm, is in the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan, since 1813. It was commissioned in 1632 by Catherine Lescuyer in memory of her deceased father as an altarpiece in a chapel in the Sint Rombaud-church in Mechelen.
