HENRI GOUGES The Henri Gouges domaine was founded in 1919 in Nuits St. Georges by Henri, and was then developed further by his two sons, Michel and Marcel. More recently the domaine is controlled by the next generation, Pierre and Christian, grandsons of the original founder. The domaine consists of 14.5 hectares, including vines in six Nuits St. Georges Premier Crus. The grapes are completely destemmed and fermented for approximately 15 days in cement vats before ageing in oak barrels for approximately 18 months before bottling. Production is small, which combined with the significant demand, means that these wines are very highly sought after.
