The domaine was originally run by Francois Raveneau, until in 1984 his son, Jean-Marie became involved in the wine making after studying at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune. His brother, Bernard also works at the domaine. All grapes are hand harvested and picking takes place early rather than late, in order to preserve acidity. The wines are characterized by needing between six to eight years bottle ageing in most vintages in order to develop the considerable rich honeyed fruit flavour. The domaine comprises 7.5 hectares of vine, including three Grand Cru sites (Valmur, Blanchot and Les Clos) and four Premier Cru sites (Montée de Tonnerres, les Vaillons, Butteaux and Chapelot).
