A JAPANESE STAINED AND POLYCHROMED IVORY FIGURE OF A WOMAN, CIRCA 1900
of elegant form and proportions with a full, fleshy face and small delicate features the figure is carved with long, draping robes edged with decorative designs, ornate jewellery and several hair decorations, she is modelled holding a horse hair fly whisk, which drapes over her shoulder and down her back in one hand and a basket of flowers in the other hand, fixed on a wooden pedestal atop a metal stand decorated with a simple key fret pattern border, the figure has been mounted as a lamp and behind her is a lamp stand modelled as bamboo -- the figure 16in.
