A Japanese wood netsuke of a karashishi, Tamba school, 18th Century
the seated beast carved with a long curling mane and tail, the head turned to the right, its mouth open baring its ferocious teeth and exposing the articulated ball within - 1 5/8in. (4.1cm.) wide.
