TWO IVORY TUSK VASES AND AN IVORY CARD HOLDER, 19TH CENTURY
of curved, cylindrical form, both vases are decorated with gold, brown and red lacquer, one depicting a Ho-o amongst maple branches the other with a male figure and a hare amongst a variety of flowers and foliage -- 5 7/8in. (14.9cm.) tallest; of flattened rectangular form the lidded card box is similarly decorated using lacquer and fragments of mother of pearl with pheasants perched on rockwork, surrounded by flowering peonies, signed on the base -- 4 3/8in. (11.1cm); and a small rectangular box, the cover with a black and gold lacquer design of pine trees on the sea shore -- 2in. (5.1cm.) (4)
