A Japanese ivory okimono of Gama Sennin, 19th century
carved with the right leg raised over a basket filled with toads within a lotus leaf and clambering up its side, looking down and to the right at a large toad standing at his side glancing through a large lotus leaf and pod over its head and back, wearing flowing robes with floral roundels and a cross-hatched design, with a gnarled staff in his left hand and a toad in his right, carrying a lotus leaf bundle packed with toads over the back and a double gourd flask tied over the leafy waist cover -- 5 3/16in. (13.2cm.) high.
