A Japanese bronze figure of a samurai, Meiji period
modelled standing with legs abreast, the torso turned to the right and the head with a ferocious expression looking up towards a bell supported on a circular fluted tray held in his raised left hand, the jinbaori incised with the Ando mon, with a katana tucked in his ribboned sash, holding a trident weapon in his right hand, the bell decorated with bosses, foliate floral sprigs and butterflies, wood stand with a carved floral apron and a wood and leather bell striker -- figure and bell 22 13/16in. (57.9cm.) high.
