A JAPANESE EMBELLISHED SILVER MOONFLASK, MEIJI PERIOD
of flattened form, the silver and gilt metal body resting on a tiered circular foot with four hooked feet, two stiff looped handles emulating bamboo fixed either side of the domed lid decorated with a centrally applied enamelled chrysanthemum flower head and four leaves, the neck and two silver side panels decorated with delicately enamelled flowers and foliage, two large central roundels either side of the flask decorated in Shibayama style with mother of pearl and ivory depicting a vase and two baskets filled with flowers and a demon inside a bell with a maiden standing behind holding a wiseria branch, repectively
