A Chinese blue and white kraak dish, circa 1630-1650
painted in the well within a star panel with a swooping bird and a butterfly above a bird perched on rockwork amidst tree peony and floral sprays, framed by alternating wan and scale patterns, encircled around the cavetto and rim with lappet panels variously enclosing precious objects and floral sprays alternating with panels painted with tassels -- 13 7/8in. (35.2cm.) diam.; and a blue and white oval dish, painted in the centre with floral sprays, encircled by lingzhi scrolls on the cavetto and a composite border including flowers, scrolls and a trellis pattern on the rim, late 18th century -- 16 7/8in. (42.8cm.) wide. (2)
