A large Chinese 'Rockefeller pattern' oval dish, Qianlong
enamelled with a central scene with a groom holding the reins of a horse pulling a cart with a lady and child followed by an equestrian figure and attendant carrying books, a sword and possibly a qin and a lady and a gentleman, all in a mountainous range with rockwork and trees, encircled on the cavetto with cartouches enclosing a bird perched on a flowering branch alternating with a hut in a mountainous river landscape, the rim with ruyi-scoll framed cartouches enclosing huts, fishermen or boats in a mountainous river landscape reserved on a dense foliate gilt -- 18 7/16in. (46.8cm.) wide.
