A Japanese Imari scalloped bowl, circa 1700
the sixteen-fluted bowl with rounded sides, supported on a short tapering foot, enamelled with a central cherry blossom spray encircled by two sprays of peony and chrysanthemum on the sides, the exterior decorated with peony branches growing from a banded hedge and irises, with a geometric pattern on the foot -- 8in. (20.3cm.) diam.
