Woodcut device on last page (worming in the lower margins with the lower corners repaired as far as E6). Not in Adams or BMC. 2 works in one volume, 2° (304 x 186mm). Contemporary German blindstamped pigskin-backed boards with clasps (clasp leather restored).
The first work is the first German translation of Ibn Butlan's Taqwim al-sihha followed by the Taqwim al-abdan fi tadbir al insan of Yahya ibn 'Isa, Ibn Jazlah. The fine strip woodcuts depict all kinds of fruit, nuts, cereal, herbs, bread, vegetables, cheese, poultry, domestic animals, fish, offal, banquets and a whole range of human activities from hunting to drunken vomiting. The second work is the FIRST EDITION of two of the works of the Scriptores Rei Rusticae. Apart from the minor faults noted above FINE COPIES of two scarce and interesting works.
