Lot Essay

This is a letter by Hakuin to Ishii Gentoku (1671-1751), a medical doctor and serious Zen pupil, who maintained a close relationship with Hakuin throughout his life. Here Hakuin is writing to thank Gentoku for medicine. Other letters from Hakuin to Gentoku are in Ryuunji Temple in Tokyo.
