An Ikkosai School Tsuba
Meiji period (late 19th century), signed Ikkosai Tokuoki sei
Rounded-rectangular iron ishime-ji plate slightly convex at the edge with a tiger on a rock beneath a moon in taka-bori, suki-bori and gold and silver taka-zogan and hira-zogan, the moon in silver hira-zogan and the mists in copper nunome, with two udenuki-ana encorporated into the rock design
2 7/8in. (7.3cm.) long
With a wood box inscribed on the lid Moko isei sangetsu takashi and on the underside of the cover Tetsu tsuba iroe tsuki naku tora and dated Meiji kigen tsuchinoe tatsu fuyu zo (winter, 1868) and signed Shinoyama Tokuoki and sealed Ikkosai
