An Inlaid and Celadon-Decorated Stoneware Maebyong
Koryo Dynasty (12th-13th century)
Evenly proportioned and balanced on a ring foot, inlaid below a collar of yo'i-shaped clouds of inlaid white slip with three large leaf-shaped reserves: one of a willow in iron slip, one of a peony with white-slip blossoms and iron-slip stem and leaves, and one of miscanthus grasses with white-slip tops and iron-slip stalks, all framed by iron and white line borders, also inlaid in white slip with a narrow geometric band above the foot; the body also incised with three vertical lines descending from the pointed tips of the clouds around the neck and applied overall save the foot rim with a bright green celadon glaze, emerald where thick, and with variegated crackle
