Taizan is the mark of the several generations of potters of tea bowls active in Awata of Kyoto since the late 17th century. The 8th generation succeeded the anme in the early 1860s, and the 9th generation worked until the middle Meiji era. He is said to have used clay brought from several regions of Japan.
