In his twenties, Dewasne painted after plaster figures and models for nearly five years. From 1943 on he painted abstract forms and often placed contrasting colours opposite to each other. From 1950 to 1952 Dewasne led, together with Pillet, the Académie d'Art Abstrait. He lived in Paris and exhibited all over Europe.
