Lot Essay

This fine dresser is characteristic of the West Country tradition of large oak or elm dressers and cupboards with either hinged or sliding doors and decorative angles. The central glazed door seems to be peculiar to Somerset and North Devon. A similar cupboard stands in the vestry of the church at Ash Thomas, near Tiverton, Devon.
