Lot Essay

The present study shows the tapestry hung Long Gallery at Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire, as furnished by William Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire (1790-1858), with the 1st Duke's pier-glass, dating from 1703, flanked by boulle chests.
