Second edition of Marshall's first book, first published in 1879. This copy is from the library of John Neville Keynes who was one Marshall's closest friends. His son, John Maynard Keynes, later wrote of Marshall's little book: 'If we are to have an elementary text-book at all, this one was probably, in relation to its contemporaries and predecessors, the best thing of the kind ever done' (Essays in Biography).
