Contemporary half sheep (spine a little worn and with a few repairs). Provenance: deaccessioned library stamp of an East German institution on title-verso.
Second edition of this classic by an economist of whom Schumpeter writes: 'If we judge [Thünen and Ricardo] exclusively by the amount of ability of the purely theoretical kind that went into their work, then, I think, Thünen should be placed above Ricardo or indeed any economist of the period, with the possible exception of Cournot', (p.465). The first part of the work contains Thünen's major agricultural theories including the analysis of rent, location and resource allocation while in the second part he reveals his marginal productivity theory of distribution. Part 3 appeared for the first time in 1863. Goldsmiths' 32592 & 36776; Kress C.5974.
