Lot Essay

Compare the similar small cloisonné censer with slightly more compressed body illustrated in The Rolf Heiniger Collection of Qing Imperial Wares, Marchant & Son, London, June 2000, no. 15. Like the present censer it has a Qianlong four-character mark, but with the addition of a fifth character, zhi, inscribed on a small gilt plaque on the base.
