A RARE PARCEL-GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF SHOULAO
17TH CENTURY
The smiling, bearded god of Longevity shown seated on the back of a recumbent deer, holding a peach in his left hand while the right hand rests atop one of the deer's antlers, wearing full robes tied with a sash that falls between his feet, with long ribbons trailing from behind his bald head and across his shoulders, the figure raised on an hexagonal base, which was once the cover to a censer, and is cast with diaper pattern panels and pierced on three sides
