WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
Painted with a fanciful scene of horses and various animals and mythical beasts in a landscape, three shown in a pond, all below three cloud cartouches, two enclosing a five-clawed scaly dragon, the third a water buffalo seen from behind, with a narrow band of conjoined quatrefoils alternately centered by a lingzhi sprig or a coiled dragon, with a decorative band above the foot and a band of classic scroll encircling the neck
