KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
Each with a single female figure seated on a bench in a landscape, one resting her arm on a stack of books, her long robes decorated with a central chilong motif, a jar and low dish at her feet, the other reaching down to play with a young boy at her side, both encircled by a border of medallions and flowers, with underglaze blue ding mark within double blue circles on the base
8¾ and 9 in. (22.2 and 22.9 cm.) diam. (2)

Lot Essay

A similar pair of dishes, also with ding mark and dated to the Kangxi period, was exhibited in Splendour of the Qing Dynasty, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 9 June - 2 August 1992, no. 161.
