Lot Essay

Denise Ledoux-Lebard's Le mobilier Français du XIXe siècle names two Jean Werners as ébénistes that were active in the second half of the 19th century. Since very little is known about both and no stamps are recorded for either, it is difficult to say whether the present vitrine is by Jean or Jean-Georges Werner.
