The scrolled acanthus and rocaille stem with a pierced undertier headed by bearded masks with up- and down-scrolling square branches with gadrooned lights with dentilled drip-pans and urn-shaped nozzles, above a foliate finial

Lot Essay

An example of the present chandelier, unknown index number, was supplied by Linke for the study of Ahmed Fuad I at Ras al-Tin (see in situ photograph above), as part of the huge commission by the Egyptian king between 1922 and 1935 for the redecoration and refurnishing of the royal palaces in Cairo and Alexandria.
