Saint Jerome in the Desert (Bartsch 3; Brown 13)
etching with engraving and drypoint, circa 1624, a very good impression of the only state (Brown records one trial proof impression in Berlin with a dedication below the borderline, which was omitted in all subsequent impressions), printing with grey plate tone, scratches in the sky and elsewhere, and fine detail especially in the saint's face, as called for by Brown in earliest impressions, on laid paper with a Small City Gate with Pendant Initial N watermark, with 5-7 mm. margins, foxed, otherwise in good condition
