Mil Huit Cent Trente (Marchesseau 7)
etching and aquatint in sepia, with brown wash and touches of hand-colouring in watercolour, 1905, on thick cream wove, signed and dated in pencil and inscribed à mon amie Jane, second, final state (Marchesseau calls for 15 impressions in this state), with wide margins, minor soiling in the upper margin, pale mount staining towards the sheet edges, occasional foxing on the reverse just showing through; together with a trial proof in sepia-brown of the first state, prior to the aquatint and before the borderline was completed (there were a small number of impressions of this state in black); and an impression in black of the second, final state, generally in good condition
