A rare green schist figure of Shiva Maheshvara with Nandi
Kashmir, 8th century
The three-headed deity expressively carved holding a trident, wearing a garland, a short diaphanous dhoti tied with a sash at the waist, multiple necklaces and armlets, his principal face incised with the third eye and surmounted by a foliate tiara, backed by Nandi with his head turned forward, the stone with a fine polish
