Lot Essay

The face is modeled with great charm and the legs are slightly elongated, underscored by the flat, almost geometric lotus throne characteristic of Orissan style; compare with the Aparacana Manjusri in the Baripada Museum, in K.S. Behera and T. Donaldson, Sculpture Masterpieces from Orissa, 1998, p. 133, pl. 40.
