3½in. (9cm.) high; 5 3/8in. (13.6cm.) diameter

Lot Essay

Irabo (literally, "rough-textured") painted bowls were commissioned by Japanese tea masters from the Yangsan kiln in Korea (see also lot 3). The artless underglaze-iron design on the side of this bowl is in the style of contemporary E-Garatsu, painted Karatsu wares.
