A Chinese carved ivory wrist rest, 19th century
the front carved in low relief with a fisherman seated on the edge of his boat by the river bank beside a thatched pavilion below striking mountains, the reverse deeply carved with eight immortals carrying various precious objects mounted on Buddhistic lions, qilin, elephants and other mythical beasts riding on crested waves below a tall peak -- 9 3/16in. (23.4cm.) high.
