A Chinese carved ivory wrist rest, 19th century
the front carved with a sage leaning on his staff and his attendant carrying prunus branches crossing a bridge below a thatched pavilion on top of a cliff, all below an inscription, the reverse deeply carved and pierced with figures in pavilions set on a mountainside amidst pine, bamboo and plantain engaged in different stages of tea production -- 10½in. (26.7cm.) high.
