A Chinese carved ivory wrist rest, 19th century
the front carved in low relief with a fisherman holding a rod and a basket standing below a cliff beside waves crashing on the river bank, looking above at a dignitary and a lady standing on cloud scrolls, the reverse deeply carved with sages standing on a bridge below a pine tree, a scholar and attendant in a pavilion amidst bamboo and two sages and an attendant crossing a bridge in a mountainous landscape -- 9 1/16in. (23.1cm.) high.
