A pair of Chinese famille rose vases, Republic Period
each of a slightly tapering square-sectioned form, rising to the waisted neck and everted rim, applied with two iron-red and gilt dragon handles, the body decorated with scenes of immortals in a fenced garden amidst rockwork, blossoming trees and floral sprays, between a floral ruyi-head and lappet borders on the shoulder, the neck with foliate scrolling lotus reserved on a pale-yellow ground, between detached floral sprigs flanked by ruyi-heads on the rim and a wan trellis pattern flanked by ruyi-heads on a stepped ridge above the shoulder, the foot with a key-fret border, the interior and base turquoise glazed, iron-red Qianlong seal marks -- 12¾in. (32.4cm.) high. (2)
