Lot Essay

A related set of quartetto tables at Leighton Hall, Lancs, is likely to have been supplied by Gillows circa 1810 ( see R. Edwards & M. Jourdain, Georgian Cabinet Makers, rev. ed., London, 1955, p.221, fig. 193 ). Several sets of this pattern have been offered at Christie's including 9th June, 2005, lot 272 and 1st July 2004, lot 187.
