Quarter-veneered throughout with crossbanded cartouches, with an earred rectangular top, a frieze drawer and a pair of panelled doors, with a foliate mounted apron, canted swag-hung angles and bouquets of flowers to each side, on foliate cabriole legs with a shaped undertier and foliate-hoof sabot feet, stamped to the underside several times 'F DURAND FILS'

Specialising in the production of 18th century style furniture of the finest quality, Gervais-Maximillien-Eugène Durand (b.1839) worked from a number of workshop locations in Paris during the last quarter of the 19th century. With his son Fr©ed©eric-Louis joining him around 1890, the firm changed its name to Durand et Fils.
