FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE LATE CHRISTIAN FISCHBACHER Christian H. Fischbacher (1913-2006) was a Swiss national with entrepreneurial interests taking him to New York in the late 1930s. In 1953, he returned to Switzerland and, continuing a family tradition, assembled an exceptional collection of art. A significant collection of works by Giovanni Segantini is exhibited in the Segantini Museum in St. Moritz, which had been Fischbacher's second home, where he participated in his beloved skeleton races. In 1948, he was a member of the Swiss Olympic team and later appointed Honorary Life President of the Cresta Club in St. Moritz. Four further cases by Cartier from the collection will be offered in the Important Jewellery sale at Christie's King Street on 13 June.
