A PAIR OF SPODE DOVE-GREY GROUND SHELL-MOULDED BASKETS
Circa 1810, iron-red lower case mark and pattern no. 2941 to each
Each oval with bail handle and raised on four gilt ball feet, the interior reserved, painted and gilt on a dove-grey ground with trailing bell flowers and other blossoms, the exterior moulded as overlapping scallop shells enriched in repeating shades of blue and yellow, pink, and yellow and pink, the exterior of the handle and the foot as faux moss, the edge of the scalloped rim gilt
