A PARIS (FEUILLET) BOTANICAL COBALT BLUE-GROUND PART DESSERT SERVICE
Circa 1834, underglaze blue D.T. manufacturer's mark to the two compotes, gilder's gilt script decorating mark for Feuillet to the plates
Each finely painted in colours with specimen fruit, the lobed blue border gilt with the script monogram 'EAG', the cavetto and rim edged in gilt, comprising:
A footed compote, 4 5/8 in. (11.7 cm.) high; 9 in. (12.8 cm.) diameter A footed compote, 4 1/8 in. (10.4 cm.) high; 8½ in. (21.5 cm.) diameter
Eight dessert plates, 9¾ in. (24.8 cm.) diameter (10)

There are ten pieces in this lot: 2 compotes and 8 plates. They are identically marked and decorated and have the same monogram as the two compotes offered in this sale as lot 259A.

Lot Essay

See note to previous lot. The fact that both services have the same monogram, are painted on the same blanks and by successor decorating houses, they must date circa 1834-1835 when Jean Boyer first succeeded to the firm of Feuillet.
