Circa 1824, blue sceptre, black painted I and mango orange dot marks to each
Each shallow circular bowl on a spreading circular foot, the interior with a garland of garden flowers including rose, aster, morning glory and hibiscus between gilt bands and enclosing a narrow band of gilt palmettes, the underside of the rim with a band of moulded biscuit vine above gilt scrolling foliage on a salmon-pink ground, the stem and foot with gilt stripes alternating with matt-gilt stripes with vermiculi decoration

Lot Essay

This form of 'Fruchtschalen mit bisk.[uit] Wein: Laub' was also used for the service given by Frederick William III to the first Duke of Wellington and delivered shortly after 2nd November 1819.
