The rectangular hinged top with canted angles and dentilled border opening to two hinged shelves above two hinged flaps enclosing a pewter water basin marked with a crowned X and HvdPol Rotterdam to the underside, the frieze with a checquer-banded simulated drawer flanked by two drawers with further checquer banding, above a pair of doors inlaid with checquer-banded cut-cornered panels and patera, on square tapering fluted legs

Lot Essay

Hendrik van der Pol was born in Rotterdam in 1749. He was headman of the pewterers' guild for four various periods. He died in 1794.
