Lot Essay

Based on the watercolours of Jan van Huysum in the collection of Ploos van Amstel, these etchings are known to have been first published in 1777 (T. Laurentius, J.W. Niemeijer and G. Ploos van Amstel, Cornelis Ploos van Amstel, 1726-1798, Kunstverzamelaar en prentuitgever, Assen, 1980, nos. 66-67).
