Lot Essay

The 'Roter Drache' design was one of the earliest Meissen designs for dinner services, first appearing around 1730. Until 1918 the red pattern was exclusive to the Saxon royal court. The dragons symbolize the emperor's power, and the two phoenix birds represent the empress.
