A LATE 18TH CENTURY DANISH SILVER-GILT HOVEDVANDSOEG,
MARK OF RASMUS PEDERSEN, COPENHAGEN, LAST QUARTER OF 18TH CENTURY,
Heart-shaped with scrollwork chasing & two red-foiled, glazed oval panels, one with initials, the other with "83", two doves applied on either side of cover & two crowned rampant lions applied to hinged oval foot, the cover surmounted by coloured pastes simulating sapphire, rubies & diamonds beneath a finial formed as two doves flanking a flaming heart, all beneath a crown, 4½ in. high (11.3 cm.).
